Rogówko combines historic residential buildings and former building uses with a Protestant cemetery and a walking and cycling route. Specific dates and different building materials bring local history to life; the route offers a second perspective on your stay. Cultural history and physical activity thus stand side by side as clearly distinct interests.

Residential Buildings and Former Uses

The historic residential buildings in Rogówko include a wooden house dating from around 1900 and brick houses. The oldest of these houses dates from 1900. Wood and masonry give the houses two different architectural features; the date provides a specific point of reference in time. Those interested in local history can therefore pay attention not only to the age of a building, but also to what it was built from.

A former brick school building dates from around 1917. Together with the houses, it illustrates a former use other than residential. The two dates—around 1900 and approximately 1917—refer to different buildings and help avoid reducing the history of construction to a single year.

Cemetery and Historical Traces

Rogówko has a disused Protestant cemetery dating from the 19th century. The oldest gravestones in the Protestant cemetery date from 1910. A 2018 hiking report places the cemetery on a small hill and describes the remains of a few gravestones and a cleared area.

A former inn is also among Rogówko’s historic buildings. It is now used as a residential building and has been preserved as a historic building along a hiking route. The change from former inn to present-day residential use distinguishes this building both from the former school and from the historic houses. Rogówko’s streetscape thus brings together different building types and former functions, rather than grouping all historic traces under a single category.

On Foot and by Bike

A 4.3-kilometre walking and cycling route runs from Lubicz Dolny through Jedwabno to Rogówko. Its completion was reported in December 2021. Its length, route and two intended modes of travel give travellers a specific point of reference when they want to include a route in their plans.

A further section of the planned cycling route to Rogówko is a separate matter. It borders the “Obszar Chronionego Krajobrazu Doliny Drwęcy” protected landscape area. The different statuses matter when planning: the 4.3-kilometre route was reported as completed; the further section is planned.

Choose the Right Focus for Your Stay

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Rogówko, you can first consider what you would like to shape your stay more: the historic buildings and their different uses, or plans focused on walking and cycling. This is a decision about your interests, not about specific features of an accommodation. Then compare the location of a specific option with the focus you would like to choose.
