Dorotowo: Local History and Railway Station Buildings

The history of the manor farm is also part of the local landscape: it was forcibly divided during the interwar period as part of the agrarian reform. Near Dorotowo, the former Polish-German border ran along the Łobżonka River; a Polish Border Protection Corps post was located on this stretch of the river. A Further Look at Greater Poland

In Greater Poland, Wielkopolski National Park protects a landscape shaped by glaciers, with forest and lake ecosystems among meadows, fields and erratic boulders. Its 18 areas under strict protection preserve glacial landforms, natural plant communities and the animals associated with them. The Ostoja Wielkopolska Natura 2000 site is a special area of conservation for habitats and overlaps with the national park. It encompasses rolling and hilly terrain on the left bank of the Warta in the Greater Poland Lowland. Another nature destination is Ostoja Rogalińska: this Natura 2000 site includes more than 1,000 oaks, including three specimens more than 500 years old.

Those interested in educational trails will find a range of route descriptions and walking times in Greater Poland. The Osowa Góra–Jeziory educational trail is 5.5 km long one way; the stated walking time is three hours. Along the way, it focuses on basic plant communities and the natural features of areas under strict protection. The trail ends at a viewpoint overlooking the castle island in Lake Góreckie. The Nadwarciański educational trail is also 5.5 km long; its walking time is 3.5 hours. It follows the Warta and showcases habitats ranging from poplar-willow riparian forest to pine forests.

The Muzeum Przyrodnicze WPN presents its permanent exhibition in four rooms on the ground floor of the national park administration building in Jeziory. It is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 14:00. On Sundays, from 1 April to 30 September, opening hours are 11:00 to 18:00. Check the opening hours before your visit. Cycling is another activity described in Greater Poland: you can ride across the markedly hilly terrain of Kraina 100 Jezior. Wielkopolski National Park is visited by cyclists and serves as a local recreation area for the surrounding municipalities, particularly Poznań. The Nadwarciański Landscape Park is suitable for birdwatching.
