Geographical location

Dorotowo is located 15 kilometres west of Więcbork, on the road to Złotów.

History

Dorotowo was first mentioned in the 1830s as a folwark belonging to the Sypniewo estate. During the land reform in the interwar period, the estate was later parcelled out. This estate history suits an interest in culture and local history.

Dorotowo is also associated with archaeological discoveries from 1879, including finds from the Roman sphere of influence.

The nearby Łobżonka River formerly marked the Polish-German border; a Polish border guard post was located there.

The preserved historic buildings include the buildings of a railway station on the disused Złotów–Terespol railway line.

Land and people

Dorotowo has a village community centre.
