Castle and Park as a Cultural Highlight

The Neoclassical castle in Pakosław was probably built between 1792 and 1794, presumably to a design by Karol Gothard Langhans. The Column Hall contains four bas-reliefs faithfully based on engravings by Franciszek Śmuglewicz from 1789–1791. This gives the castle a specific art-historical dimension: the depictions refer to earlier models dating from before the castle’s probable construction period. The castle is set in an expansive park. Its architectural form, hall design and park therefore offer different points of interest for anyone who would like to discover Pakosław primarily through its cultural history.

It is possible to rent a restaurant, as well as a conference and banquet hall, in the restored castle. This use adds an event-hosting function to the picture of the castle.

Church, Sculpture and Remembrance

The Church of St. Valentine was built in the Neo-Gothic style between 1896 and 1899. It contains a historic sculpture of St. Valentine from the previous church. In Pakosław, a building from the late 19th century and an older sacred artwork from the former church therefore stand side by side. Anyone interested in architecture can see the Neo-Gothic church as a cultural highlight in its own right; the sculpture adds a connection to the previous church.

Beside the church, opposite the main gate, stands a monument to the victims of the First World War, the Greater Poland Uprising and the Second World War. Experience and Taste Honey

At the Żywe Muzeum Miodu (Living Museum of Honey), located at the Pasieka Smakulskich apiary at ul. 40-lecia 9 in Pakosław, honey and its production take centre stage. During the summer workshops, participants learn about the history and process of honey production and prepare honey themselves. They also receive their own jar of honey; under sanitary regulations, this jar is not a food product. The hands-on element makes production the focus of the activity and complements the historical introduction with practical experience.

During events at the Żywe Muzeum Miodu, participants can taste honey, bee pollen and bee bread. This means the honey experience offers both an insight into production and the chance to sample several bee products. For a trip planned around local experiences, it is an option in its own right alongside the castle and church. The workshops are described as summer workshops; tastings take place during events.

Routes with Different Courses

The Rowerowy Szlak Miodowy (Honey Cycling Trail) starts in Pakosław in a car park by the municipal tourist map. From the starting point, the route follows Rolnicza Street and the Pakosław–Góreczki Wielkie district road towards Ostrobudek. In the associated municipality, the route forms a 15 km loop through the municipality of Pakosław. The starting point, road course and loop length offer practical guidance if you would like to include this route in your travel plans.

Other routes extend beyond Pakosław. The Wielkopolski Szlak Wiatraczny (Greater Poland Windmill Trail) passes through Pakosław and continues via Sowy, Szkaradowo, Dubin and Jutrosin towards Smolice and Kobylin. The Szlak Rajdu Konnego (Horse-Riding Rally Trail) passes through seven municipalities, including Pakosław. The routes thus differ in their stated geographical scope: the Rowerowy Szlak Miodowy is described as a 15 km loop within the municipality, while the other two are associated with additional localities or several municipalities.
