Sobota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sobota is home to a manor house and a late Gothic church. The manor house was built in 1809 for its then-owner, Ignacy Łaszkowski. The church is a late Gothic building erected in 1510 through a foundation by Jan Sobocki.

Culture and History

The church contains 16th-century Renaissance tombs of the Sobocki family made of red marble. A freestanding bell tower stands next to the church; it is a Baroque structure from the second half of the 18th century. The manor house was thoroughly remodeled in 1912.

The church’s furnishings include a painting of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus from the first half of the 17th century, which is considered miraculous. The Marian Sanctuary in Sobota is visited by pilgrims who pray to Our Lady of Sobota for the graces and help they need.

Landscape

The manor house is surrounded by a small, well-maintained park covering an area of 1.5 hectares. The park was laid out at the beginning of the 19th century. Sobota’s buildings lie on the gently sloping eastern side of the Samica Kierska valley.

Cycling Routes

The Marian Sanctuary in Sobota can be reached by bicycle via the Szlak Stu Jezior. The described section from Kiekrz via Pawłowice reaches Sobota after approximately 6.8 km.

At kilometer 15.7, the northern section of the Transwielkopolska Cycling Route crosses the road connecting Rokietnica and Sobota. At kilometer 16.3, this section follows a sandy path through a forest, leaving the Gajówka Sobota on the left. At kilometer 17.3, the Transwielkopolska Cycling Route crosses the Samica Kierska on a bridge.
