Rokietnica offers several reasons to visit: a church with its own artistic history, traces of a historic landscape park, a green space with opportunities for physical activity, and a regional soup with a long tradition of being served at events. The railway station complex also tells the story of the town’s development. Which of these aspects interests you most may shape your choice of Rokietnica as a holiday destination.

Church and art history

The Church of Christ the King of the Universe in Rokietnica was built around 1890 by the Protestant congregation. Its furnishings include contemporary paintings of Christ the King of the Universe and Stations of the Cross by Wanda Gałczyńska. The church’s name is reflected in the imagery, while the Stations add a distinctive artistic touch. Visitors interested in religious buildings and religious art will find two different aspects in one building. The church is listed in the heritage register under number 2622/A.

Manor house and surviving park trees

The manor house in Rokietnica was built at the beginning of the 19th century. Several trees from the landscape park, which was also laid out at the beginning of the 19th century, have survived around the former manor house. Some of these trees have a trunk circumference of more than three metres. Rokietnica’s past is therefore evident not only in a building: the surviving trees also offer a tangible connection to the former park. For a stay with an interest in historic places, this offers a different focus from the art in the church, centring instead on the manor house and landscape design.

Polana Rumpuciowa: green space and activity

Polana Rumpuciowa is a green space with paths. Its facilities include a skatepark and a pump track, as well as a playground and a street workout area. The site thus offers both paths and clearly designated areas for different kinds of physical activity. The skatepark and pump track appeal to different interests from the street workout area, while the playground is another distinct facility. If you like to take green spaces and specific opportunities for physical activity into account when choosing a destination, you can include these features in your plans for Rokietnica. The glade offers a more active focus for a stay than the historic buildings and their history.

Rumpuć and regional cuisine

At the event “Rokietnica invites the people of Wielkopolska to Rumpuć,” the tasting of Rumpuć takes centre stage. Rumpuć is a soup from Rokietnica and has been included on the list of traditional products maintained by Poland’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. The dish is therefore more than just a menu item; it is part of a recognised local tradition. The event has been held for many years and reached its 19th edition. For travellers who want to discover regional food culture as well as the history of buildings and places, Rumpuć is another reason to explore Rokietnica’s character.

Railway station complex and transport interchange

Rokietnica’s railway station complex includes a brick station building dating from around 1880. It also includes a brick water tower built in 1914. The two buildings date from different periods and give the station area a historical dimension. A transport interchange built in Rokietnica is intended to make use of the potential of integrated public transport, cycling and rail. This purpose brings together public transport, bicycles and rail without presupposing a specific connection or timetable. When choosing a holiday apartment, you can therefore consider whether Rokietnica’s historic buildings, Polana Rumpuciowa or its culinary tradition is the main focus of your trip.
