Sieraków has several very different sides: in the heart of the Sieraków Landscape Park, the surroundings are shaped by moraine hills, river valleys, ribbon lakes and part of the Puszcza Notecka forest. At the same time, hiking trails, water activities and cultural history offer various ways to get to know the town. When planning your holiday, it is therefore worth considering whether you would like to focus on nature, activities on the water or historic sites.
Landscape and trails around Sieraków
The Sieraków Landscape Park stretches between Międzychód, Kwilcz and Chrzypsko Wielkie; Sieraków lies at its heart. The park’s landscape features include moraine hills, river valleys and ribbon lakes. It also encompasses part of the Puszcza Notecka forest. This mix gives the surroundings a varied character rather than reducing them to a single type of landscape.
One specific nature spot along the way is Lake Kłosowskie: you can view the lake from the Sieraków–Kukułka–Błota hiking trail. It is mostly surrounded by forest. Its shoreline is varied and generally high; several peninsulas and two wooded islands shape the view. The islands and the adjoining waters belong to the strict Czaple Wyspy Nature Reserve.
The marked hiking trails vary in length and route. The Sieraków–Kukułka–Błota trail is marked yellow and black and is 14.9 km long in total. The blue-marked Sieraków–Bucharzewo trail is 6.3 km long and runs roughly parallel to the Warta River, some distance away. When choosing a route for your trip, you can take into account its stated length and the area it covers.
Water activities on the lake and the Warta
WakePark Sieraków is located on Lake Jaroszewskie. Its two-tower lift is suitable for both beginners and experienced wakeboarders. Wakeboarding is another active side of the town, alongside its hiking trails and the natural scenery at Lake Kłosowskie. Seasonal lifeguard supervision is provided at the municipal swimming beach, “Plaża Miejska nad Jeziorem Jaroszewskim,” from 1 July to 31 August.
On the Warta, the marina and riverbank in Sieraków serve tourists as a place to launch and moor boats. The lake and river offer different ways to enjoy the water: WakePark and the swimming beach are on Lake Jaroszewskie, while the marina on the Warta is used for launching and mooring boats.
Discover the town’s history and culture
The market square and adjoining streets make up the oldest part of Sieraków. They are protected as historic monuments because the town’s historic layout has been preserved. The Bernardine Church also reflects the town’s history: it was built in the 17th century and designed by Krzysztof Bonadura the Elder.
The Muzeum Zamek Opalińskich is housed in a reconstructed wing of the former castle. The museum displays the sarcophagi of the Opaliński family; it also regularly hosts exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography. Another visible reminder is the mural on Kowalska Street. Dedicated to the 1,050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland, it combines local elements with a reference to the baptism of Mieszko I. Stado Ogierów Sieraków, a centre for equestrian sport and riding holidays, is also part of Sieraków’s cultural identity.
