Julia: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Julia is one of the settlements on the shore of Lake Licheńskie. The lake is a typical ribbon lake with an elongated shape stretching from north to southwest.
Water and Landscape
Lake Licheńskie, in the area surrounding Julia, lies within the Goplańsko-Kujawski Landscape Protection Area. A quiet zone applies on the lake, where kayaks, pedal boats and rowboats are permitted. Those planning a stay in Julia may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
The bathing area in Licheń Stary on the eastern shore of Lake Licheńskie has a sandy beach. In its immediate vicinity there are recreational areas, playgrounds, an outdoor gym and water sports equipment rental facilities.
In 2002, Lake Licheńskie was used for recreational purposes because of its elevated water temperature. In the area surrounding Julia, a kayaking route runs through Lake Ślesińskie; the lake is also frequented by sailboats, motorboats and pedal boats. Fishing takes place from piers near the shore, and the surroundings can be explored from the excursion boat “Pawełek”.
The black Ślesin–Ignacewo–Ślesin cycling loop is 31.0 km long and marked in black. It passes through Stary Licheń, where it runs alongside the Sanctuary of Our Lady. At kilometre 19.5, the route runs along Lake Licheńskie.
Culture and History
The Museum of Rev. Józef Jarzębowski MIC is located on the second and third floors of the Basilica in Licheń. It can be visited individually or in groups; guided tours of the museum are available by prior reservation.
The historical place name “Kolonia Julia” is listed in a parish register for the years 1853 to 1864.
