The Henneseidfjellkløfta valley divides the mountain into Søndre Henneseidfjell and Nordre Henneseidfjell. Birch-willow woodland and some nutrient-poor black alder swamp forest grow there on stony ground. There are also nutrient-poor rock faces with oceanic mosses and various types of spruce forest. At the summits, stunted heather pine forest grows, with more vigorous bilberry pine forest in places. The forest types described differ both in their vegetation and in the ground and their position on the mountain.
The Henneseid/Henneseidfjellet natural area covers 1,140 daa. It is characterised by large areas of south- and west-facing, rocky, old and stunted oak-pine forest. These include heather and bilberry vegetation. Together with the forest types of the Henneseidfjellkløfta valley, this creates a varied picture of the region’s natural landscape: from birch-willow stands and black alder swamp forest to pine forest at the summits. For nature enthusiasts, this diversity offers a focus of its own alongside fishing and walking.
