Discover Rauma

Rauma combines impressive mountain landscapes with culture and a variety of ways to experience the surrounding area. Trollveggen is a 1,000-metre-high, vertical, overhanging rock face. At Trollstigen, walkways and stairs lead to several viewpoints; one platform is 200 metres above Trollstigvegen. Trollstigen, viewpoints and mountain trails

The Geiranger–Trollstigen National Tourist Route, also known as County Road 63, is 104 kilometres long. It begins at Sogge bru in Romsdalen and runs through Rauma. Trollstigen offers several viewpoints, reached by paths and stairs. The platform is one of them.

Another mountain experience is the trail to Rampestreken. The viewpoint is 537 metres above the Romsdalsfjord and is reached from Åndalsnes via the Romsdalstrappa. The route crosses natural terrain and stone steps built by Sherpas from Nepal. Reinheimen National Park has marked hiking trails in Rauma. The park was established to preserve a continuous mountain area as a habitat for wild reindeer. A river hike along the Rauma combines cultural history with nature experiences. The Golden Train offers a scenic round trip between Åndalsnes and Bjorli. Churches, museums and local specialities

Rødven stave church on the Romsdalsfjord is a Møre-type stave church. Its distinctive features include diagonal external support posts known as “skordene”. It also retains a unique south portal, probably dating from the first half of the 12th century. The Konfeksjonsmuseet in Isfjorden presents the history of the clothing industry in Romsdal and places it within the wider history of Norway’s clothing industry. It includes a protected stone building and a barn.

Culinary experiences are another option: wine tastings are offered at Tuen vineyard in Setnestuen, Veblungsnes. Eggen Restaurant is located at the summit of Nesaksla, at an elevation of 708 metres, and serves dishes made with high-quality ingredients from the surrounding region. The Romsdalsgondolen takes visitors from the fjord to the summit of Nesaksla in seven minutes. These give you two specific points to consider when planning your day: a ride to the summit and a restaurant at your destination.
