Nå: Cider Culture, Farm History and Fjord
Accommodation in Nå
Nå combines farm history and cider with activities by the fjord and a climb offering views towards the Hardangervidda. A family-run farm produces apple juice and cider, alongside tastings, local cuisine and paths with stone steps. When choosing a holiday apartment, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on: farm visits and food, time by the water or a route at Reisete. Nå is 22 kilometres from Odda and can be reached via Fylkesvei 550.
Cider, farm history and cuisine
The Siderhuset Ola K building opened in 1912 as a rural general store and also served as a local meeting place for trade, postal services and community life. Eirik Nå Aga’s ancestors farmed at Store Naa Siderkompani from 1724. Store Naa Siderkompani is a producer of cider and apple juice on a family-run farm in Nå. Its products are made from apples and other ingredients grown on the farm, including black and red currants.
From May to September, two cider tastings are held at the farm every day. A tasting lasts about an hour and includes a walk through the orchard, stories and light snacks. The duration provides a clear framework for planning your day; confirm seasonal arrangements in advance. In the cider village of Vikebygd (Nå), visitors can join one or two tastings, walk between farms and visit farm shops. Tastings are booked with each farm. Åkre Gard also offers tastings of Edel sider there.
Siderhuset Ola K serves a two-course lunch or a three-course evening meal featuring locally available ingredients. The menus depend on the ingredients available at the time. On request, it offers cider and/or wine tastings with a sommelier and a pommelier; confirm bookings and availability directly. Store Naa Siderkompani’s farm shop offers fruit products year-round. Check when the farm shop is open before you arrive.
Paths, stones and fjord
From Nå, drive to Reisete and continue on foot along stone steps. At the top of the climb, you can enjoy views of the Hardangervidda; whether the mountains are visible depends on the weather. The combination of a drive and a walk makes an excursion to Reisete a different kind of activity from a tasting or a meal at a farm.
The Stone Park in Nå displays various types of rock. Other local features include an artificial beach; there is also a former ferry landing in Nå. If you are considering a swim in the fjord at Nå-Stranda, check the conditions and available facilities locally.
If your group has different interests, culinary and scenic plans can be easily compared: cider tastings and meals on one hand, and an excursion to Reisete, the Stone Park and a possible swim in the fjord on the other. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Nå, you can plan your days around these priorities. For tastings, the season, duration and individual bookings matter; at Reisete, the weather determines whether you can see the Hardangervidda.
