Sheltered natural harbors define the village of Fedje in the north of the destination. Around them are the ferry terminal, shops, the church, places to eat and other central facilities. Hiking trails, experiences on the water and a visit to a lighthouse are also nearby. This means you can shape your stay according to your interests: using the harbor as a point of reference, taking a longer hike or exploring the skerries.

The Harbor and Finding Your Way Around the Village

The Fedjebjørn ferry runs from Sævrøy to Fedje; the crossing takes 30 minutes. At the ferry terminal, Jentene på Kaien serves as a tourist information office and meeting place for locals and visitors. There is also a café, and products by local artists and craftspeople are sold there. To get around Fedje, you can rent bicycles at the ferry terminal and from the tourist information office at Landhandleriet. You can also get maps and suggestions for different cycling routes at these locations.

The harbor is also the starting point for “Mordet på Fedje,” an outdoor activity for groups of two to four players. It takes about two hours and follows a route of approximately two kilometers that starts in the center of the harbor. The approximate duration and route length give your group a clear framework for this puzzle outing. If you would rather explore longer trails on foot, Fedje has three Nordsjøløypa hiking trails that can be connected to form a long circular day hike.

Church, Distillery and Lighthouse

Fedje kyrkje is a prominent landmark. Churches have stood at the present site since the 17th century; Fedje kyrkje was consecrated on September 7, 1941. The place therefore combines a long church history at the same location with a specific date from the 20th century. Those interested in local history can also plan a guided tour of Feddie Ocean Distillery, which tells the story of the distillery from its founding in 2019 to the present day.

Another nearby outing takes you on a RIB tour through the skerries around Fedje to Hellisøy fyr. The experience includes a visit to the lighthouse and a guided tour of the tower. Combining a trip through the skerries with a visit makes this outing different from hiking on Fedje or taking a stroll around the harbor. For a more peaceful outdoor experience, Dagsturhytta is open to all visitors and has a fire pit that is freely available for grilling.

Local Dining and a Sauna by the Quay

Losen, a cozy, informal restaurant, is located in the center of the harbor. On the outdoor terrace, you can sample spirits from Feddie Ocean Distillery, among other things. The distillery itself also offers bookable tours of its production facilities, with tastings. This gives you two different ways to enjoy the spirits on Fedje: as part of a visit to the production facilities or during a tasting on Losen’s terrace.

Another option for a break is the sauna by the quay next to the Sardinfabrikken Fab 8 apartments. It can be booked for an agreed time; a sauna session includes a cold plunge. When choosing a holiday apartment on Fedje, you can consider which of these experiences you would like to shape your stay: the harbor and dining, trails and cycling, an outing through the skerries, or a combination of these. The activities mentioned offer different options without requiring you to follow one set itinerary.
