Discover Siggerud
Accommodation in Siggerud
Siggerud offers several ways to enjoy a varied stay: a floodlit training trail at the sports centre, the historic Milorgrunden circular route and Siggerud Church with its distinctive architecture. There is also a swimming spot near the centre. Whether you want to focus on exercise, local history, church architecture or time by the water, you can discover different sides of the area.
Ski trails, running and BMX
The floodlit training trail at the sports centre in Siggerud has routes of 5 km, 3 km and 2 km. There are also shorter distances for children. This choice of different lengths gives you various options for planning your day; the shorter routes are specifically intended for children. In summer, the floodlit trail is suitable for mountain biking and running. The way this place is used therefore changes with the seasons, and the activities mentioned are not limited to winter.
The sports centre also has a small BMX circuit. It has a gravel surface and built-in terrain features. This makes it a compact circuit, distinct from the ski trails. If you enjoy being active outdoors in Siggerud, you will find several specific ways to exercise here: ski trails of different lengths, running or mountain biking on the floodlit trail in summer, and the separate BMX circuit.
The floodlit trail in Siggerud connects to the new Siggerud–Langhus floodlit trail and the rest of the ski trail network in Sørmarka. In winter, the ski trails start on the other side of the sports centre, by Siggerudhallen. These landmarks help distinguish the ski trails from the BMX circuit and the trail’s summer uses. Siggerud may be an appealing choice for a holiday rental if you would like to include these activities in your trip.
Milorgrunden and the history of the forests
Milorgrunden is an 11 km circular route with information about events in the forests of Siggerud during the Second World War, from 1940 to 1945. It starts at Siggerudhallen. The route combines a set distance with a historical theme: it focuses on events in the forests during these years. If you plan to walk Milorgrunden, you can use its 11 km length as a guide when planning your day.
Information boards are located at eight stations. The stations are called Kullebunden, Bru Landhandleri, Postveien, Sterkerud, Tiurleiken, Mosquitoleiren, Verpåsen and Siggerudåsen. Together, the station names give you specific points of reference along the route. Milorgrunden is therefore suited to travellers who want to plan a stay around local history as well as physical activity. The historical period from 1940 to 1945 refers to events in the forests of Siggerud.
Church architecture and cycling route
Siggerud Church was built in 1905 to designs by architect Holger Sinding-Larsen. Its design was inspired by village churches of the 17th and 18th centuries, but the church is made of dark-coloured, unclad timber. These features give the building its distinctive character: inspiration from older village churches is paired with a design in dark wood.
The interior also has distinctive architectural features. It is well preserved and has a high ceiling and a visible roof structure with pairs of rafters. If you are interested in architecture, you will find construction details here in addition to the year it was built and its historical inspiration. A cycling route from Siggerud to Langhus starts at the junction of Vevelstadvegen and Gamle Siggerudveg, directly below Siggerud Church. Its starting point is therefore precisely located; the route is another option for a cycling trip.
Swimming spot near the centre
Bråtetjern is a swimming spot near the centre of Siggerud. It has a swimming jetty and a diving board. The Saga bus stop is right by the swimming spot. For travellers who would like to spend time by the water during their stay, Bråtetjern offers another option alongside the ski trails, historic circular route and architectural sights. Its location near the centre and the Saga bus stop are useful landmarks for finding the swimming spot.
