The 3.9-kilometre De Vennepad circular route leads from the centre of Koewacht to De Vennen and along the banks of the Boschkreek. Along the way, you cross the Boschkreek on an adventurous hand-pulled ferry. The circular route then follows the Tragel between several pastures back to the centre of Koewacht. Its manageable length and changing landscape features make the route an engaging way to experience Koewacht at your own pace.

South of the village, there are hiking trails in the Karnemelkpolder and a hiking connection to Perenboomsgat. The Zoute Vaart, a ditch or waterway east of the Tragel, forms the border with Belgium. Between the Tragel and the centre of Koewacht, remnants of the small-scale cultural landscape with pollard willows between pastures have also been preserved. In the village centre, the church at Kerkplein 2 is one of the gemeentelijke monumenten, meaning municipal monuments. The remains of fortifications around Koewacht are part of the Staats-Spaanse Linies, cultural and historical defensive lines from the Eighty Years' War. Fort Sint Nicolaas is located nearby, while Oud Fort Bedmar can be found in the area around Koewacht. Oud Fort van Verrebroek and Fort van Haasdonk lie in the wider regional area.
