Nature in Hoogland: Bird Boulevard and Landgoed Coelhorst

The Bird Boulevard combines meadow birds with recreation, while Landgoed Coelhorst offers a different natural highlight with its orchard and Coelhorsterappel apple.

The Bird Boulevard in Hoogland is part of Hoogland-West and was specifically established for meadow birds and recreation. It is also part of the Dutch nature network Natuurnetwerk Nederland.

Landgoed Coelhorst has an orchard dating from 1947. The younger trees bear the locally re-bred Coelhorsterappel apple. As Landgoed Coelhorst has no parking facilities, visitors are advised to travel by bicycle or public transport wherever possible. This allows the choice of transport to be coordinated with the lack of parking spaces at an early stage. The Coelhorsterappel provides a specific detail when considering the orchard.

Golf and the Dorpsfeest in Hoogland

Golfclub Hoogland Amersfoort has an A-status golf course in the Hoogland landscape. The club also has an official 18-hole FootGolf course. For sports planning, the two courses differ in the number of holes: the golf course has nine holes, while the FootGolf course has 18.

The Dorpsfeest Hoogland takes place regularly around the weekend of the third Saturday in September and lasts four days, from Thursday to Sunday. When planning a visit to the festival, this period can be marked down as a four-day span.

Chapels, churches and local architectural history

The Catholic Kapel Coelhorst is a 14th-century chapel built for the inhabitants of Hoogland. After Hoogland received a new village church, De Inham, in 1843, Kapel Coelhorst was sold to the residents of the Coelhorst estate and used as a family burial chapel.

The Sint Martinuskerk contains 10 stained-glass windows distributed throughout the church interior, with 2 more behind the priest's choir and 1 in the Marian chapel. The presbytery of the R.K. St. Martinuskerk at Kerklaan 22 was probably built in 1888 to designs by P.J.H. Cuypers and A. Tepe. Visitors interested in culture will encounter Kapel Coelhorst, Sint Martinuskerk, De Hoge Vuursche, Oldenaller and Huize Maarsbergen in Hoogland and its regional surroundings.

Castles, parks and beaches in the surrounding area

Landgoed Stoutenburg is a historic site in the vicinity of Hoogland. The surrounding area is home to the castles De Hoge Vuursche and Oldenaller, as well as Brandenburg and Boswachterij Austerlitz parks. The wider regional area also includes Strand Nulde and Almeerderstrand beaches, as well as Huize Maarsbergen, a castle.
