The Oud-Poelgeest estate comprises five listed monuments. Hiking trails on the estate lead past forests, ponds and monumental buildings. In this way, the route combines different landscape features with historic architecture. Rhijngeest is an 8-hectare forest park with a diverse range of plants, trees and birds. In autumn, Rhijngeest is home to more than one hundred species of fungi.

If you would like to explore the Endegeest and Rhijngeest estates on foot, a free, downloadable 2-kilometre walk is available. The route therefore passes through two named estates and combines the walk with Rhijngeest forest park. Many paths on the Endegeest grounds are paved and easily accessible by wheelchair or with a pushchair. In Rhijngeest forest park, the paths are unpaved and can become muddy after rain. The two sites therefore differ significantly in the condition of their paths. While Endegeest has many paved sections, unpaved paths and possible wet conditions after rain are characteristic of the forest park described here. The condition of the paths clearly distinguishes the two named estates from the forest park: paved sections contrast with unpaved paths that may become muddy after rain.

For residents and visitors, Oegstgeest offers several informative hiking and cycling routes. The Boerhaave cycling and hiking route is available at Oud-Poelgeest Castle. In addition to the free walk through the estates, there is therefore also a specifically named cycling and hiking route associated with Oud-Poelgeest. The Oegstgeester Ommetjes comprise nine short circular walks in and around Oegstgeest. These Ommetjes are part of the Bollenstreek hiking junction network. You can use hiking junctions throughout the municipality. The route network thus includes both short circular walks and the option of using hiking junctions within the municipality.

Culture

A visit to CORPUS takes an average of 2.5 hours. This duration is given as a specific time indication alongside the shorter walking options. A small church stood on the site of today's Groene Kerk in the 9th century. Today's Groene Kerk is a single-nave cruciform church based on a Gothic model from the 15th century. It was one of the first churches in the County of Holland. Several historical periods therefore converge at this location: the small church of the 9th century, the Gothic model of the 15th century, and the Groene Kerk's place in the early ecclesiastical history of the County of Holland.
