Ouddorp combines a distinctive coastal landscape with nature reserves, regional history and a wide range of activities. The beaches of Ouddorp stretch for several kilometres and offer broad sandy expanses as well as views across the North Sea. Discover nature: dunes, birds and wide-open views

The De Kleistee nature reserve lies in the heart of Ouddorp and includes woodland and flower fields. It is also a remnant of a centuries-old landscape with sand ridges; special flower species grow in the fields in spring and summer. De Punt is a 150-hectare dune area on the Grevelingen. Along the route through De Punt, information boards provide details about the area's flora, fauna and historical significance. The nature reserve is also home to a bunker complex that formed part of the Atlantic Wall during the Second World War.

For a clearly defined hike, Het Volgerland is a good choice: The route is 5 kilometres long, marked with white arrows and starts at the car park at the end of the Groene Dijk in Ouddorp. The landscape includes varied dunes with abundant birdlife near the beach, sea-protecting dunes and inland dunes. The Middelduinen observation tower offers views of the transition from the polder to the dunes, the beach and De Kwade Hoek. It can be reached from the car park at the junction of Vrijheidsweg and Oosterweg near Ouddorp.

Active days and special experiences

Cyclists can choose the Kop van Goeree mountain bike route, which passes through four areas managed by Natuurmonumenten: De Kwade Hoek, Roggebos, bosje Havenhoofd and Scheelhoekbos. Ouddorp Duin offers shops, a bicycle rental service, a restaurant, a theatre, an ice cream parlour, an indoor playground and a play landscape with dunes. The outdoor activities offered there include archery, laser gaming, Archery Tag, flowboarding and power kiting. There is also a pump track for scooters, skateboards or BMX bikes. Those travelling with children and different interests can switch between exercise, play and quieter moments on the coast.

Another unusual perspective on the region is offered by the historic tram ride of the RTM Tram Museum: It travels across the Brouwersdam and back and takes approximately one hour. On operating days, the RTM Tram Museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00; a large car park is available at the entrance.

Windmills, history and local impressions

The De Hoop windmill in Ouddorp was built in 1845 on behalf of J. Zoeter and D. Voogd, on the site of an earlier post mill. Voogd's mill shop introduces visitors to the regional food tradition with a wide range of flour, fine flour and complete baking mixes from its own mill. Beeldentuin Achter De Westduinen is a private garden in Ouddorp that combines art, nature and history. Museum Ouddorp presents information at around ten locations and/or in display cases in the town hall; on the ground floor, an interactive touchscreen table is part of the information on offer. In this way, historic sites and cultural visits complement days spent at the beach or in the dunes.
