Reutum lies between the elevated fields of the Reutemeres and areas of damp grassland. Alder and willow trees grow in the wet woodland, along with magnificent cuckoo flowers and marsh marigolds. Circular Routes through Landscape and History

The village circular routes around Reutum include the 4.2-kilometre route „Rondom de Reutumerweuste“. Its exact length provides a manageable framework for planning your day. Along the village circular routes, there is also a former farm that has been converted into a play paradise. Locks on the Almelo–Nordhorn Canal

Reutumse Sluis is a coupled lock with an iron lifting bridge and a Dutch Rijksmonument. The Koppelsluis near Reutum is located on the Almelo–Nordhorn Canal; it dates from 1885 and overcomes a difference in elevation of six metres. The year 1885 also places the lock in the historical timeline of the canal. The iron lifting bridge is an integral construction detail of the lock.

Cycling Route between Almelo and Nordhorn

The Almelo–Nordhorn cycling route runs for approximately 35 kilometres from Almelo towards Nordhorn. Its approximate length and direction provide a practical guide for planning a cycling trip. An Important Date for the Church

The last Eucharistic celebration at H.H. Simon en Judaskerk in Reutum took place on 4 April 2025. On that day, the church was withdrawn from use for worship. The date is therefore part of the church’s recent history in Reutum.
