De Weere: Polder Landscape, Routes and Historic Buildings

De Weere combines West Frisian agricultural landscape with striking cultural heritage and varied routes. The organ has two manuals, an attached pedal and ten stops; these parts were transferred to the newly built church in 1908.

Another prominent building is the stolp farmhouse complex at Driestedenweg 45 in De Weere. Built in 1913, the building belongs to the derivative North Holland type. The complex and its associated gate are considered to be of general architectural and cultural-historical interest and a well-preserved example of early twentieth-century agricultural architecture. Polder Landscape, Water and Paths

The Kolk van Dussen features channels and wet grassland. Among others, avocets and little ringed plovers breed in its shallow water. The Kolk is located along the Pannepad, which is used by Rondje De Hooge Weere. This walking route runs through the polder between Lambertschaag, De Weere and Abbekerk and follows the semi-paved cycle and walking path along the Kolk van Dussen.

De Weere lies along several cycling routes through the West Frisian landscape. The Opmeerder Wuivertocht passes through the village and along quiet polder roads with views of the West Frisian agricultural landscape. A longer option is the Langereisroute: its additional loop leads through the Groene Pade water storage area and along the Langereis canal. This allows you to choose between different route focuses and a shorter or longer tour for your trip.

Culture and Excursions in the Surrounding Area

There are also various destinations outside De Weere. The Westfries Museum is located in the surroundings of De Weere. Schagen is a castle in the wider regional area around De Weere.
