Discover the Meuse landscape and nature
The ferry between Vierlingsbeek and Bergen provides access to the nature reserves east of the Meuse. The area along the Meuse northeast of Vierlingsbeek near Groeningen is officially called Bergjes. It is better known as Maasheggen and can be explored on foot or by bicycle via several routes.
Smaller areas of landscape also shape the surroundings. Dokterskuul is a marshy woodland at the mouth of the Molenbeek where it flows into the Meuse. In April, Bostulp can be found in some of the meadows along the Meuse.
Historic sites in the village
Various periods come together within a compact thematic area in Vierlingsbeek. The house with a stepped gable at Spoorstraat 9 was built in 1756. The Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk in Vierlingsbeek was built in 1843. There is also a former Protestant church at Spoorstraat 17.
The watermill next to Grotestraat 121 is mentioned as early as 1446. Its waterwheel still works. A fish ladder was built at the watermill in 2013.
The Jewish cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in the Netherlands. It is also part of a guided walk through Vierlingsbeek, which also visits the Koningskerkje and the Joodse Begraafplaats. This allows those interested in culture to combine various historic sites with a guided exploration of the village.
