The 7-kilometre “Parel van de Betuwe” hiking route passes through Landgoed Hemmen and the village of Hemmen. The route starts at the entrance to Kasteeltuin Hemmen. If you travel by train from Tiel or Arnhem, you can get off at Hemmen-Dodewaard station for this route; an additional 2.2-kilometre return walk is then required. When planning your trip, you can therefore take into account both the starting point at Kasteeltuin and the additional walk from the station.

Cycling route and fruit-growing landscape

A 20-kilometre cycling route leads from Hemmen through the village and its surroundings. The brochure accompanying the route focuses on natural and cultural aspects and highlights scenic features of particular appeal. If you would like to explore Hemmen not only on foot, the cycling route provides a longer connection between the village and its surroundings. The different route lengths help you weigh up a walk, a hike or a more extensive cycling tour.

The Landgoed Heerlijkheid Hemmen is home to 600 standard fruit trees, predominantly old apple and pear varieties such as Notarisappel and Groninger Kroon. This fruit-tree landscape adds a distinctly rural element to the park and estate complex.
