The Hof van Hessen town museum is located in the centre of Huissen. Archaeological finds and historical objects are exhibited there; the permanent exhibition “Leven aan de Limes” includes 2,000-year-old jewellery, tableware and everyday objects. The exhibition shows how the inhabitants lived along the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. Under the Loovelden district of Huissen, there are also remains of Roman-era farmsteads, grain silos and burial grounds.

The artwork Forës is also located in Loovelden: two steel doors, each two metres high, mark the exact spot where a Roman grave was found. The monastery’s history dates back to 1858, when the first Dominicans moved into the monastery in Huissen, which was still a country house at the time. The architect Pierre Cuypers (1827–1921) built the U-shaped monastery complex and the chapel of the Dominican monastery in Huissen.

A green pedestrian route leads directly from the Achter de Gracht car park and the Hof van Huesse multi-storey car park to Langestraat and the centre of Huissen. On request, the Historische Kring Huessen offers guided tours of Huissen for large or small groups for a small fee. Every Sunday at 10:00 a.m., a service with the chapel community takes place at the Dominican monastery in Huissen. The Exoduswandeltocht in Huissen takes place every year on the last Saturday in June. This non-competitive memorial walk commemorates the evacuation and return in autumn 1944 and spring 1945.

The Mea Vota – Tuinbouwmuseum De Hofstèèj horticultural museum presents a permanent exhibition of tools and equipment formerly used by Huissen’s gardeners to work the land and grow their produce. The greenhouses are primarily used to cultivate grapes according to traditional growing methods. As of Friday, 21 August 2026, the Historical Horticultural Museum Mea Vota sold its annual grape harvest in the grape greenhouse at Boskoops Glorie 33 in Huissen.

Events are regularly held at Landgoed de Brouwketel in the floodplains of the Nederrijn near Huissen, and everyone is welcome to attend. “Huissen in Kerstsfeer” has become a tradition for many people.
