Ede brings history, art, nature and regional products to life in a variety of ways. The Open-Air Theatre Ede, historic sites, hiking trails and the De Ginkel area each offer a different focus for your trip. If you choose a holiday apartment in Ede, you can therefore tailor your stay to the interests of your group: with culture in the urban area, activity in the countryside or regional discoveries on two wheels.

Culture, history and art in Ede

The Open-Air Theatre Ede was built in 1936 as a Rijksmonument and serves every year as a venue for various events and theatre performances. The Historisch Museum Ede presents art, cultural heritage, stories and changing exhibitions. Its collection includes objects and photographs that bear witness to Ede’s history and development; the museum also presents its collection in temporary exhibitions at different locations and in educational projects. Cultura Erfgoed is located on the second floor of Cultura Ede. At Cultura Erfgoed’s Archeo Hotspot, you can help with archaeological investigations.

The Paasberg Mausoleum in Ede also leads to an important part of the town’s history. It contains 44 plaques bearing the names and dates of birth and death of resistance fighters from Ede; 30 resistance fighters are also buried there. The mausoleum is the official place where the dead are commemorated on 4 May. Around the Grote Kerk, the twelve artworks of De Twaalf Apostelen stand on plinths at the corners and along the flower beds. The Concordiamolen was built in 1865 on the site of an earlier post mill, is a gallery mill and operates as a grain mill.

Choose a holiday apartment in Ede based on your holiday focus

The stadsbeeldenroute in the centre of Ede consists of three walking routes leading from one artwork to the next. Ede is also decorated with dozens of murals and graffiti works by national and international graffiti artists. The Korte Keten walking route on Kernhem Estate offers an insight into life on a farm. In the De Ginkel area, you can cycle, hike, fly kites, go mountain biking and horse riding. De Ginkel is also home to red deer, wild boar, sheep, roe deer, wolves, badgers and foxes.

Discover regional products along the routes

The Smaakfietsroute: van kaas tot sap leads to the producers of the special Brandroodkaas and Remekerkaas cheeses. It is a daily, individually rideable cycling tour for tasting regional products in Ede, Lunteren, Ederveen and beyond the municipal boundary in Renswoude. This allows you to base your choice between a culturally oriented holiday apartment, a starting point for days of hiking or accommodation for enjoyable cycling tours on your own travel plans.
