The Slachtedyk borders Bozum in places. This old inland dyke has a history of land reclamation, protection against the water and dyke houses. South of Bozum, walkers can use a section along a grass embankment; cyclists have to take a short detour there. For planning your day, this is a specific difference between a walk and a cycling tour, without equating the two routes.

The Sint-Martinuskerk dates from the 12th century and is one of the oldest Romanesque church buildings in Friesland. The Majestas Domini fresco in the chancel was discovered during restoration work in 1941. It depicts Christ as a young, beardless man and is surrounded by the symbols of the four Evangelists. Anyone interested in church art and medieval architectural history will find a clearly defined reason to visit Bozum here.

A historic circular route of approximately 5 kilometres around Bozum follows a very old church path between Bozum and Lutkewierum/Rien. The approximately 10.4-kilometre Rondje Easterwierrum–Boazum walking route leads over narrow paths and bridges through the open landscape around Easterwierrum and Bozum. Along a towpath, it follows the Zwette watercourse, which is also called Sneekertrekvaart. The different lengths help you compare different days of walking.

The Kleiterperpolder Windmotor stands as a striking landmark in the pastureland north of Dearsum. In the area of the former Middelzee, it forms an important ensemble with the wind motors near Mantgum and Weidum. The Slachtedyk is also a cultural-historical monument and is managed by It Fryske Gea.

De Boazumer Mjitte serves lunch and a simple, tasty dinner made from local products. The Boazumer Feart is a recreational waterway connected to De Zwette; boats can moor there in Bozum. When planning accommodation in Bozum, you can therefore take both regional cuisine and waterways into account as distinct holiday themes.

The Nacht fan Boazum began in 1989 as a musical evening event and was intended to become a local tradition. From 1989 onwards, it was held every year on the first Saturday in October, with the exception of the COVID-19 years 2020 and 2021. The fixed date in October gives the event a clear place in the annual calendar. A self-guided audio tour was also launched for the church; QR codes were installed in and around the church for this purpose.

For your further selection of places, you can also include Wommels, Kûbaard, Reahus, Easterein, Easterlittens, Weidum and Mantgum in your plans.
