Mala Gorana: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mala Gorana is part of the larger rural area of Gorana, which extends between the Povara and Možura hills. This landscape includes the 500- to 700-metre-wide Goransko polje and the wooded hills above it. Nature

Mala and Velika Gorana are identified as a preserved cultural landscape with traditionally cultivated agricultural land. The preservation of the rural character is recommended.

Mala Gorana is included in the Mrkovsko polje–Gorana sub-area, which is described as predominantly low-lying and relatively flat. The village also belongs to a sub-area identified for intensive agriculture with olive groves, citrus fruits, early continental fruit and Mediterranean vegetables.

There are no natural springs in Mala Gorana. The local water system draws its water from the Frašanj well via a pumping station; its capacity is described as limited in the plan.

Culture

The annual sports games in Mrkojevići are described as a traditional August event. They have taken place since 2009 and combine tourism, culture, sport and local tradition.

The Olive Growers' Association of Bar offers guided walks through olive groves as well as tastings of oil made from the local Žutica variety.

Klezna is located on the road from Ulcinj to Vladimir between Mala and Velika Gorana. A bridge there is described as being more than three centuries old.

The Gorana Mosque was one of the three mosques of the Mrkojevići made accessible as part of a virtual tour project.

At the crossroads of the roads leading towards Mala Gorana and Kunje stands the reconstructed old bridge, locally known as the Turkish Bridge, which was built in the Ottoman style. The old road at the Turkish Bridge is associated with a possible ancient Roman road route that connected Narona, Olcinium and Skadar.

History

Mala Gorana is listed among the Mrkojevići villages mentioned by Mitar Petrović Plamenac in his travel notes from 21 to 23 August 1881.

Mala Gorana is also described as a place where Petkovdan was celebrated, a former Christian holiday.
