Museum and Architectural History
The JU Muzej Bijelo Polje was founded on 31 January 1957. Its collections cover archaeology, ethnography, history, numismatics and art history. The range spans material traces and ways of life, as well as coin collecting and art history. The museum building has a history of its own: it has the status of a cultural monument and was built between 1897 and 1905 as a secular Turkish Ruždija school. The Gradska džamija tells another story of architecture and movement. In 1741, it was moved from the Ljuboviđa Valley to the town of Bijelo Polje, stone by stone.
