Memorial Sites and Cultural History

In the city centre is the memorial house of Duke Gavro Vuković. It includes a gallery, his former study with a library, and personal items, including his sabre and numerous manuscripts. Outside the city centre, 4.5 km from Berane’s centre, Šudikova Monastery lies hidden in Tifran Gorge on the route from Berane to Bijelo Polje. It was known as an important spiritual and cultural centre with renowned schools. Ćelije Monastery is located in the village of Kaludra, 9 km from Berane, on the Kaludarska rijeka River; it is dedicated to Saint Luke the Apostle.
