Beach and Summer

Sutomore Beach is 1,200 metres long. Sutomore offers accommodation as well as access to nearby natural and cultural sites such as the Brca community. Restaurants, cafés, fast-food establishments and souvenir shops line the beach.

Culture and History

Haj-Nehaj comprises the remains of a medieval town built in the 15th century. Haj-Nehaj was first mentioned in 1542 and was built by the Venetians for defensive purposes. The complex is located on a hill above the sea at an altitude of 225 metres.

West of Sutomore and one kilometre from the sea lies St. Thecla Church. It was built in the 14th century and has an Orthodox altar as well as a Catholic altar. In front of the church is a cemetery for members of both faiths.

The remains of St. Rok Church near Sutomore date from the 14th century. The remains of the Benedictine monastery of Virgin Mary of Ratac are also located near Sutomore. They date from the 11th century and lie on the shore at the end of Ratac Cape between Bar and Sutomore.

Sutomore is associated with an early history of tourism and an architectural character shaped by palaces made of stone and wrought iron.

Hiking and Views

An easy 2.7-kilometre hiking route leads from Sutomore to Haj Nehaj Fortress. The Sutorman viewpoint offers hiking, walks and panoramic views.

The surrounding area includes Štrbine, a 100-metre-long pebble beach not far from Sutomore. Ratac Beach is a nudist beach at Ratac Cape between Sutomore and Bar.

Geographical Location

The wider area around Bar and Sutomore is connected by main roads and railway to Podgorica, Bar and the Port of Bar. During the season, a tourist information office operates in Sutomore.

Other places in the same higher-level area include Tomba, Dobra Voda, Mišići, Bukovik, Šušanj, Čanj, Pečurice and Miljevci.
