Geographical location

Molėtai is located on the A14 Vilnius–Utena expressway, 30 kilometres south of Utena and 63 kilometres north of Vilnius. The Kalnas Majokas hill is located in the vicinity of Molėtai; Lake Siesartis lies east of the town.

Culture and history

The Catholic Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Molėtai was built between 1905 and 1907 in the Neo-Baroque style, with a twin-tower façade. Molėtai was first mentioned in historical records in 1387. Molėtai is also home to a regional museum and a cultural centre.
