Viršurodukis: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Viršurodukis is located in the middle of the Dainava Forest in Dzūkija National Park and in a Natura 2000 area. A forested area stretches west and north of the village. At the same time, Viršurodukis is situated on the Viršurodukis Stream, which flows through the eastern part of the village area.

Nature

The Kalnuočių Kalnas hill is located in the vicinity of Viršurodukis. The Gora Blindazhnaya hill is also located in the wider surrounding region.

Cycling route

Viršurodukis is part of the “Puvočiai–Dubininkas–Viršurodukis–Roduka–Kasčiūnai–Glyno ež.–Mardasavas–Puvočiai” cycling route. As a sightseeing stop, this route also includes a partisan command post next to Viršurodukis.

Culture and history

The memorial site of the partisan bunker and death site of the Milžino unit includes the reconstructed “Sušaudyta Lietuva” monument. Visitors can view the recently reconstructed partisan shelter of the Milžino unit there.

Ten partisans died in the vicinity of Viršurodukis. A Šturmo partisan bunker was also built in the vicinity of the village.
