In this area, the Jūrtaka follows various stretches of shoreline, passes through Liepene on its 11th stage and offers changing impressions along the way: sandy and pebbly shores, steep coasts with eroded clay, and a shoreline that gradually becomes lower beyond Liepene. The character of the area also includes various recreation facilities. The “Vējciems” recreation complex is located in a pine forest on the Baltic Sea coast. These places complement the picture of a landscape where forest and coast lie close beside each other. The “Jēņi” campsite is listed as offering a sauna and a party room for 16 people. Its services are available from 1 May to 31 October.

Liepene is also associated with orienteering. The long-established “Kurzemes Pavasaris” orienteering event was intended to take place in Liepene. In addition, the “OKZK 2026” orienteering event is scheduled to take place in Liepene on 17 September 2026 at 16:00.
