Kaive – Discover Lakes, Nature and Culture
Accommodation in Kaive
Kaive combines water, nature, parks and culture into a varied travel destination. Those looking for a holiday apartment for a holiday with a range of interests can choose between days by the lake, walks along a stream, observing nature and cultural discoveries. Many of the special places are located in the wider surroundings of Kaive and offer different possibilities for planning a trip.
Lake, River Landscape and Protected Nature
At Kaives ezers there is an equipped bathing area, a playground and a fire pit. This allows days by the water to be enjoyed in different ways: You can plan time for swimming, visit the playground with children or round off your stay at the fire pit. From Kaives muižas parks, there is a view of the more distant Kaives ezers, surrounded by birch trees. The open-air stage can also be seen from there.
In Kaives parish, the Ogre runs through a low-lying floodplain landscape in the wider surroundings of Kaive over a distance of around 12 km. In the southern part of Kaives parish there are also around 270 hectares of Palšu purvs, a specially protected natural area of European importance. Those who want to make landscape and nature the focus of their trip will find a range of impressions here: a river floodplain, a protected wetland and a lake with facilities for spending time by the water.
Another opportunity for outdoor activity is the 3×9 Herbal Nature Trail. Along this route, you can walk beside the Dzirnupīte stream. The “3×9 Zālītes” farm produces blends and single-variety herbal teas from hand-picked herbs from the meadows of Piebalga, adding a regional speciality to the nature theme.
Parks, Sculptures and Cultural-Historical Sites
Kaives muižas parks features oak-wood sculptures created by sculptors from Latvia and other countries during the “Koks un cirvis” symposium in 2006. The park thus combines time spent in green surroundings with open-air art. In the wider surroundings of Kaive, the Jaunantēnu rija in Jaunantēni, Kaives parish, is also listed as an architectural monument of national significance. The Leimaņu manor complex with its park in Kaives parish is classified as culturally and historically significant.
Kaives Park is also part of the local points of reference. In connection with the 60th anniversary of Kaives parish, new plantings were created there and a decorative sign bearing the inscription “Kaive” was installed. The roof covering of the open-air stage in Kaive Park was renewed; the renovated stage is intended to be suitable for cultural and community events.
Cultural Offerings for Different Days of Travel
Kaives Tautas nams has a hall equipped for 3D film screenings. This means that a cultural activity can also be planned independently of spending time by the water. On 18 April 2026, as part of the recurring nationwide event “Satiec savu meistaru!”, a workshop on making bracelets using knotting and beadwork was offered in Kaives parish, led by Inese Suta. This date belongs to a past event offering and cannot be assumed to be a general date for future trips.
Kaive as a Starting Point for Choosing Accommodation
Accommodation in Kaive may suit your plans if you want to combine experiences in nature, water and culture. For a more active day, the 3×9 Herbal Nature Trail and the landscape along the Ogre are options. For a stay with a bathing area, playground and fire pit, Kaives ezers is a destination in its own right. Those who prefer cultural experiences can include Kaives muižas parks, the oak-wood sculptures, the open-air stage and the cultural-historical sites in their travel plans.
