It is situated on a promontory on the right slope of the Abava Valley; natural obstacles protected the site on three sides, while the open side was fortified with a ditch and rampart. More than 1,200 artefacts from Sabile Hillfort provide evidence of the crafts, trade and agriculture of its inhabitants at that time.
