Lastebasse between the valley slope and the plateau

Lastebasse stretches along the right slope of the upper Astico Valley and lies between 420 and 1,822 metres above sea level. Steep, rugged terrain and deeply incised, wooded valleys shape the landscape. The Val Lunga follows the border with the Trentino municipality of Folgaria, while the Val Lozza follows the border with the municipality of Valdastico.

Nature along the Astico and in the Val Civetta

The Civetta stream rises on or descends from the Altopiano dei Fiorentini and flows into the Astico immediately below the built-up area of Lastebasse. The waterfalls of the Val Civetta are among the few waterfalls in the Province of Vicenza and are considered particularly attractive to tourists.

Trails, views and sporting tours

CAI Trail 571 begins in Lastebasse immediately behind the church. CAI Trail 569 begins at Pickel near Contra’ Giaconi di Lastebasse, beside the bridge over the Val Civetta. From Lastebasse, one section provides quick access to the Altopiano dei Fiorentini; another leads towards the plateau and passes by the Soglio D’Aspio. From the Restele chapel, the trail offers wide-ranging views. From Forcella Molon, the summit and Fort Campomolon can be reached in 20 minutes. For mountain-bike tours, the challenging Dall'Altopiano alla Val d'Astico route passes through Lastebasse; it is 100 kilometres long and has an elevation gain of 480 metres.

Churches, archaeological sites and commemorative heritage

Lastebasse’s attractions include the parish church of S. Marco evangelista, the church of S. Prosdocimo vescovo in the hamlet of Posta, and the church of S. Fermo e Rustico, dating from 1833. The Bassa Val delle Lanze–I Fiorentini area is designated as a Palaeolithic archaeological site. Forte Campomolon is considered a site of historical and commemorative interest; the Val delle Lanze–Fiorentini area is designated as a trench or trench-system site.

Historic sites on the plateau

The Monumento a Carlo D’Asburgo commemorates the visit of Emperor Charles of Austria to his troops, as well as those who fell in 1915–1916. It stands on the Altopiano dei Fiorentini in the municipality of Lastebasse at an elevation of 1,450 metres. The Cippo a Carlo D’Asburgo is a First World War monument dedicated to Archduke Charles of Austria in Busatti di Lastebasse (Vicenza). It is located on the Strada Regionale 350, about 10 metres from the bridge over the Astico. The Ufficio IAT Tonezza del Cimone is listed for tourist information about Lastebasse.
