Walks among the hills and along the river
The hills around Creazzo offer easy paths through nature and quiet roads suitable for walking. The path along the Retrone River is currently walkable and runs along the left bank from the area of the bridge at the end of Via Palladio near Parco Doria to the junction with Via Torino. This allows you to consider nature paths in the hills and a route along the river as different walking options.
Two easy circular routes complement this selection. The circular route starting and ending at Piazza Roma follows the Sentiero Bastiana, Via S. Ulderico, Via Sponsaora, Sentiero Pizzamerlo, Via Pozzetto and Via Bastiana and takes about one hour. The circular route starting and ending at Parco Rivella follows Via Rivella, Via Quaglie, Trodo Bianco, Via Campignardi, Sentiero Broggiadoro, Via Broggiadoro, Via Quaglie and Via Rampa and takes about one and a half hours. The different time estimates help you compare the routes when planning your day.
Broccolo Fiolaro: seasonal flavor from Creazzo
Broccolo Fiolaro di Creazzo is one of the typical products of Veneto. This broccoli variety is grown on the calcareous-sandy white soils of the hills around Creazzo in the province of Vicenza and harvested from November to February after the first frosts. Shoots grow along the stem; even the youngest leaves are considered the best parts of the vegetable for use in the kitchen.
The Broccolo Fiolaro festival takes place every year at the beginning of February, with around twelve local restaurateurs taking part. This gives the regional specialty a fixed date in the annual calendar and provides a specific point of connection for visitors who want to discover Creazzo through its cuisine.
Churches and frescoes as historic highlights
The cultural sites also add distinctive touches. A first church dedicated to Saint Cyprian already stood in Creazzo before the year 1000. The building of the Church of Sant'Ulderico was rebuilt in 1630 and again between 1831 and 1842. The main salon of Villa Suppiej is decorated with frescoes characterized by epic and mythological motifs. This gives the historical reference points in Creazzo a broad chronological and artistic scope.
