Discover Levada: Church, Beer Culture and the Via Postumia Route
Levada combines art-historical discoveries, the beer culture of San Gabriel and concrete opportunities for active days. It also offers special places such as the Borgo della Birra and a route that leads from Levada along several roads towards Ponte di Piave and Salgareda.
Art and History in San Bonifacio
The ancient small parish church of San Bonifacio in Levada is at the heart of the cultural experience. It preserves numerous 15th-century frescoes. The church also contains the Madonna della Rondine fresco, which is dated to the early years of the 16th century. Its dedication is unique in the Diocese of Treviso. The work carried out at the beginning of the 16th century is also part of the history of the church: at that time, two altarpieces for San Bonifacio Martire were commissioned from Francesco Bissolo.
Another historical landmark is the Monumento ai Caduti in Levada. The sculpture is made of Sarone stone and was created by Elena Ortica and Gaetano Brugnaro. In terms of its subject, the Monumento ai Caduti commemorates the fallen of all wars. In Levada, you will therefore encounter different forms of remembrance and preservation – from sacred frescoes to a memorial sculpture carved from stone.
Beer Culture and Typical Cuisine
San Gabriel brings its own culinary history to the area. The brewery's origins date back to 1997. Since 2006, the brewery has grown two-row barley directly in the Province of Treviso. A wild hop variety called bruscandolo also grows in the San Gabriel area; it is connected with the historic brewing of beer in the local abbeys.
San Gabriel's company shop in Levada carries every label and every type of beer produced by the brewery. The Osteria della Birra serves typical cuisine and includes a historical exhibition on the history of breweries. This makes it possible to experience a visit to Levada through taste, craftsmanship and the development of brewing culture.
Experiences for Different Day Plans
The Borgo della Birra in Levada combines several engaging activities: visitors can see the farm animals, ride on the old train and try out games from earlier times.
The programme of Levada in Festa 2026 included “Camminando per Levada”, a 6 km recreational and sporting run. The Via Postumia Route leads from Levada along Via della Vittoria, Via Chiodo and Via Grassaghella, then crosses the regional Postumia road and continues on a cycle path towards Ponte di Piave and Salgareda.
