Experience Lagoons, Nature and Coast

Rosolina lies in a landscape shaped by the Laguna di Caleri and the Valli da pesca. This setting can be experienced particularly vividly at the Giardino Botanico di Porto Caleri. The botanical garden is located in the southern part of the Rosolina Mare coastline and covers approximately 44 hectares. There, you can explore the various habitats along three paths. Since 1992, there has also been a designated path through the brackish-water habitats near the Laguna di Caleri. The three paths and the designated path offer different focuses within the coastal landscape.

The Giardino Botanico di Porto Caleri serves to preserve a unique natural landscape of considerable scientific interest.

Paths through Forest, Lagoon and the Po Delta

The Via delle Valli Nord runs along fish-farming areas and the lagoon and passes through holm-oak and pine forests. An optional detour leads to the mouth of the Adige. The optional detour to the mouth of the Adige can be taken into account independently of the main route when planning the day.

The route along the Via delle Valli Nord also passes through Valle Sagraeda. There, visitors can observe one of the largest flamingo colonies in the Po Delta.

Rosolina Mare: Beach and Porto Fossone

Rosolina Mare has a nine-kilometre beach between the Adriatic Sea and the northern lagoons of the Po Delta. Rosolina Mare also has a tourist landing place in Porto Fossone. The Adriatic Sea and the northern lagoons of the Po Delta border the beach section on both sides.

Venetian Traces in Rosolina

Away from nature, Rosolina also has tangible evidence of the town's history. The Chiesa di Sant'Antonio was built in the 17th century. The Casone di valle Venier, a rural residential building, stands out for its enormous chimney. Rosolina is also home to the Venetian oratory of the former Valle Moceniga. In 1789, a church dedicated to the Immacolata Concezione was built on the estate of the Venetian patrician Mocenigo family. The route of the ancient Via Popillia bears witness to the town's ancient origins in Rosolina.

Radicchio and Vongole from the Po Delta

Rosolina is one of the municipalities with the most important growing areas for Radicchio di Chioggia IGP in the Po Delta. In the lagoons of the municipalities of Rosolina, Porto Viro and Porto Tolle, Vongole veraci are farmed across a total of approximately 5,300 hectares within the Parco del Delta del Po. Cultivation and lagoon farming coexist here as two different forms of regional production in the Po Delta.
