Holiday apartment in Marliana: village culture, culinary delights and family experiences
The village of Marliana is grouped around the Church of San Niccolò. A holiday apartment in Marliana can therefore be combined with different holiday interests: in the village, history, food and art take centre stage, while the municipality also offers a clear family experience with Spider Park.
Spider Park and culinary evenings
Spider Park is located at Via Mammianese 719 in the municipality of Marliana. It has a practice course, three courses for children aged three and over, and four courses for teenagers and adults; together, they comprise 80 platforms. Access to Spider Park is free. If you use the courses, you pay for a two-hour activity.
Culinary experiences are also part of the village's character. The Passeggiata gastronomica notturna is a nocturnal culinary walk through the village's medieval-style streets. At Senti come mi brace, steaks, sausages, chicken and rosticciana are prepared every evening on a large open grill in the central square. Marliana also has a special variety of potato; olives and wine are cultivated at lower elevations.
Serra Pistoiese and historic traces
Serra Pistoiese is a medieval village of stone houses. It was built on a narrow, long mountain ridge with a central road and rows of houses on either side. Old mule tracks connect Serra with nearby places and make trekking tours possible.
In Serra Pistoiese, the Church of San Leonardo preserves medieval stone capitals with scenes from the Old Testament. The ruins of the Parish Church of Furfalo are still visible in a forest between the village of Serra and the Nievole Valley. The Parish Church of Furfalo is one of the oldest in the Pistoia area.
Art, festivals and choosing your accommodation
The Museum of Rural Culture is accessible and open to all citizens. The Pieve of Marliana houses a polychrome terracotta statue of the Madonna and Child from the first half of the 16th century, attributed to the circle of the Buglioni.
A special event is the traditional CantarMaggio in Montagnana Pistoiese. On Saturday, 16 May 2026, it includes a procession with accordions and guitars, dancing, and food offered by local residents.
When choosing a holiday apartment in Marliana, you can consciously weigh up these different priorities: a family day at Spider Park, culinary impressions in the village, the village structure of Marliana, or historic paths and buildings around Serra. This allows you to align your accommodation with the holiday rhythm that suits your interests, without reducing Marliana to just one experience.
For further orientation, you can also discover Goraiolo, Rovaci, Avaglio, Momigno, Montagnana, Pescia, Limestre and Serravalle Pistoiese.
