Villa Baciocchi is an 18th-century building that was most probably built on the remains of the medieval castle of Capannoli. The Baciocchi marquises inherited the villa in 1833 and made substantial changes to the building and its monumental park. The villa also has restored underground areas; these were probably built and used as cellars.

On the first floor of the Villa Comunale Baciocchi, the Archaeological Museum comprises five rooms. It presents the development of human history in the Valdera from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. The exhibition includes multimedia elements, videos and interactive objects, as well as reconstructions of the hut from the Neolithic village of Podere Casanuova in Pontedera and Hut B from the village of Montacchita in Palaia.

The Zoological Museum displays more than 400 preserved animals in five rooms, including mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and invertebrates from around the world.
