Quercianella is a small seaside resort that has been awarded a Blue Flag. Quercianella combines two clearly recognisable focal points for holiday days: bathing spots by the sea, as well as castles, a fortress, a museum and a cultural programme. The manageable size of the town and the variety of destinations in the surrounding area make Quercianella an interesting base for varied holiday days.

North of the harbour of Quercianella there is a small beach with a saltwater pool. The pool was created by an artificially constructed stone barrier and allows children to swim comfortably and safely. The beaches of Cala del Leone and Spiaggia di Calignaia are also located in the immediate vicinity of Quercianella. The Spiaggia per Cani beach and Bagno Aurora beach are likewise nearby. When planning your days, these coastal spots can be noted as different destinations, placing the small beach at the harbour alongside the beaches in the immediate vicinity.

The city bus route 20 provides a connection with Livorno. During the summer season, it runs only on Saturdays, Sundays and 15 August. For a trip from Quercianella to Livorno, this seasonal timetable is therefore a specific planning factor for the particular day trip in summer. The regional bus route 102 connects Quercianella with the surrounding area. In addition, there is the Federico Santerini sailing school in Quercianella, which is certified by the Federazione Italiana Vela, or FIV for short. Two specific points of reference are available for planning your days: the connection to Livorno and an interest in sailing as a possible part of your holiday days.

Castles, fortresses and museums in and around Quercianella

The buildings in and around Quercianella also add their own distinctive touches. The Castello Sonnino and Castel Boccale castles are located in the immediate vicinity. Castello Pasquini is also located in the surrounding area of Quercianella. Sidney Sonnino Castle is a fortress overlooking the sea in the village of Romito in Quercianella. The In Villa di Odierna Roberto museum is also located in the surrounding area. Villa Jana is a small neo-medieval castle that characterises the townscape of Quercianella. When planning a trip to Quercianella, coastal attractions and historic architecture thus meet directly.

Cultural programme for varied holiday days

The cultural programme “La cultura al Centro” includes book presentations, literary workshops, meetings with authors, poetry evenings, concerts and theatre performances. Alongside the beaches and the certified sailing school, this creates a broad range of events: when planning your time in Quercianella, you can take into account both relaxing days by the water and cultural highlights. The combination you prefer can be based on the bathing spots, historic buildings, the museum and the six programme components.
