Tret combines impressive nature experiences with small cultural and culinary discoveries. The locality is an exciting starting point for you if, during your holiday, you enjoy switching between waterfalls, alpine lakes, hiking trails, climbing rocks, cycling routes and regional specialities. A holiday apartment in Tret is therefore particularly well suited to travel plans that bring together different ideas for each day rather than focusing on just one excursion.

Discover the waterfall and lake along different routes

The Cascata di Tret is located in the locality of Tret. An easier path runs along above the waterfall, while a more demanding route reaches its base. From the centre of Tret, an easy walk along a comfortable gravel road takes you to the viewpoint above the Cascata di Tret. Anyone who would like to experience the waterfall from a different perspective can use the Cammino Jacopeo d'Anaunia variant: it allows hikers to view the waterfall from below in a natural gorge. The Anello nel Canyon del Mondino circular route can also be extended to the Cascata di Tret.

For direct access to the Cascata di Tret, a path leads from the car park behind the Albergo Aurora to the waterfall in 15 minutes. Lago di Tret can be reached from the car park via Trail No. 512. The route ascends approximately 350 metres and takes about one hour. Another hike to the lake starts in Loc. Plazze di Tret and takes about 40 minutes. Lago di Tret itself is an alpine lake at an altitude of 1,605 metres on the border between the provinces of Trento and Bolzano.

Hiking, climbing and gravel riding with clearly defined route profiles

The area around Tret offers several ways to structure an active day in different ways. At Falesia Cascata di Tret, there are 19 climbing routes with difficulty ratings from 5a to 6c+. The routes are up to 35 metres long. Climbing requires a 70-metre rope and 17 quickdraws.

Cyclists also find a clearly defined route profile: the Macaion Roen Gravel route is 59 kilometres long, has 2,070 metres of elevation gain and runs 76 per cent on unpaved surfaces. It passes the Cascata di Tret and climbs towards Lago di Tret. The weekly, free public transport service between Tret and Fondo is being offered as an experimental service in 2026 and is intended to continue until 31 December 2026.

The church and honey as distinctive aspects of Tret

The cultural side of the locality includes the Chiesa di Sant'Anna in Tret. It was consecrated in 1649. On the outside, a stone portal, two square windows and a small rose window characterise the building. Inside is a single-nave space with Gothic ribs and decorative features from the 20th century. A visit to the church thus provides a peaceful contrast to the paths through the gorge, forest and mountain landscape.

Apicoltura Bertagnolli offers a culinary discovery: it is a family-run business in Tret that produces a diverse selection of honey. Its range includes traditional and fruity varieties, including options with notes of mountain pine and chilli. Visitors can observe the various stages of honey processing at close range.

Choose a holiday apartment in Tret based on your own daily plans

When choosing your holiday apartment in Tret, you can take your planned experiences as a guide. For a hiking day, there are several starting points for Lago di Tret and the Cascata di Tret. Climbers should take the requirements for ropes and quickdraws into account, while gravel riders should consider the distance, elevation gain and high proportion of unpaved route. If culture and regional products are to stand on an equal footing with physical activity, the Chiesa di Sant'Anna and Apicoltura Bertagnolli create a varied rhythm. Tret therefore offers specific reasons to consider the location of accommodation not only according to the place name, but also according to the planned days of your holiday.
