Fai della Paganella offers a diverse mix of local history, easy trails, beech forest, regional cuisine and living traditions. When choosing a holiday apartment in Fai della Paganella, you can focus on cultural and historical discoveries, short walks, nature experiences or local flavours.

Culture and local history around Doss Castel

Doss Castel is a fortified archaeological settlement and a natural fortress on the eastern edge of the high plateau of Fai della Paganella. The Doss Castel archaeological circular trail includes fold-out information panels introducing visitors to the world of the Rhaetians. East of the village district of Villa stands the parish church of Fai della Paganella. The presence of a place of worship at this site can be traced back to the 14th century.

The Sentiero dei Reti also focuses on the early history of the area: it leads through the remains of a Rhaetian village. The Rhaetians are considered to have been a warlike people of the 2nd century BC. The historic Sentiero Ardito Alberto crosses the entire village and is dedicated to Alberto, an aviator in the Arditi of the Royal Italian Army.

Easy trails and beech forest

The Sentiero dei Belvedere is 1.1 km long and takes about 20 minutes. The Sentiero dell’Otto is an easy, almost entirely paved route that can be walked with a pushchair. It leads through the meadows and fields of Fai della Paganella, past typical mountain huts, gardens, small deciduous groves and traditional mountain crops such as potatoes and maize, as well as hop fields.

The Sentiero Acqua e faggi leads through a beech forest, offers places to rest and allows visitors to play in the water of the Rio Fai. The Parco del Respiro is located in Fai della Paganella in a beech forest. This means that short, easily accessible walks as well as forest and water are among the area’s varied nature experiences.

Alpine hut cuisine and a special December night

Malga Fai is located in the meadows and forests of Fai della Paganella and serves simple, authentic dishes from traditional Alpine hut cuisine. In Fai, the patron saint of children and school-age young people is celebrated every year on the night of 5 to 6 December with the traditional “strozega dei bandoni”. Long strings of tin cans are dragged through the streets of the village.

Choose a holiday apartment based on your travel interests

When choosing your holiday apartment in Fai della Paganella, you can first decide on the type of holiday you want: should cultural traces and local history shape your day, should easy trails take centre stage, or are you looking for forest, water and traditional cuisine? The variety of themes makes it easier to make a considered choice between active discoveries, relaxing moments in nature and culinary impressions.
