Holiday apartment in Novaledo: culture, mountain destinations and the Valsugana cycle path
Novaledo lies on the alluvial fan of the Rosa stream, which flows down from the Panarotta. Tor Quadra, Sant'Agostino, the “Alla Bassa” snowshoe trail and the Valsugana cycle path reveal different sides of the town and its surroundings.
Culture between Tor Quadra and the churches
Tor Quadra was an ancient fortification consisting of two towers facing each other. Its drawbridge blocked a bottleneck between the mountain and Lago Morto, which has since been drained. The ruins of Tor Quadra also mark an ancient defensive point on the Roman road that ran through Novaledo. This gives the town a tangible historical setting, so your trip does not have to be limited to purely scenic experiences.
The churches also add their own distinctive touches. The parish church of Sant'Agostino was enlarged in 1859 and restored in 1922 after the destruction of the First World War. In its apse, the marble frame of the old altar contains an altarpiece depicting the Madonna and Child, Saint Augustine and other saints from the Venetian school. The apse also features a modern mural by Luigi Vicentini. The Church of Maria Ausiliatrice in Novaledo dates from 1723.
Mountain scenery and trails for active days
The summit of Colle della Stanga, Monte Panarotta and the summit of Cima Storta are located in the immediate surroundings of Novaledo. The summit of La Fontanella is also nearby. Forte Belvedere is located in the vicinity of Novaledo. Further afield in the region are the palaces of Villa Belfonte, Villa de Mersi and Villa Tambosi. The range of destinations thus extends from mountain scenery to historic buildings in the wider surrounding area.
The “Alla Bassa” snowshoe trail leads to a clearing near the hamlet of La Bassa at an altitude of just under 1,900 metres and traverses the southern slope of Monte Panarotta. Along the trail, you can stop for a break at Rifugio Malga Masi and enjoy views across the entire lower Valsugana. For cyclists, the Valsugana cycle path runs as far as Bicigrill Novaledo, a rest and refreshment station for cyclists. The snowshoe trail and the Valsugana cycle path thus represent two different ways of being active around Novaledo.
Novaledo between history and activity
Tor Quadra and the churches of Sant'Agostino and Maria Ausiliatrice bring together Novaledo's historical themes. The “Alla Bassa” snowshoe trail on the southern slope of Monte Panarotta and the Valsugana cycle path as far as Bicigrill Novaledo offer a different focus. Mountain destinations such as Colle della Stanga, Monte Panarotta and Cima Storta are located in the immediate surroundings, while Villa Belfonte, Villa de Mersi and Villa Tambosi lie further afield in the region.
