Holiday apartment in Nogaredo: Trails and landscape
The Sentiero delle „buone Kalendae“ educational trail begins at Spine, near Distilleria Marzadro, and leads uphill through vineyards to Nogaredo. The round trip is 8.8 km long and takes about five hours. This gives the route a clearly defined focus for anyone wishing to combine their stay with a longer walking experience.
The Destra Adige Lagarina is a hilly trail for horse riding, cycling and walking along an old road; Nogaredo is one of the participating municipalities. Along the Destra Adige Lagarina there are sixteen information points with panels overseen by the Fondazione Museo Civico Rovereto. Areas of particular landscape value include the banks of the Adige, some dry areas and the woodland above Castel Noarna.
Historic village and notable buildings
The historic village of Nogaredo is characterized by densely clustered houses with courtyards and distinctive portals and extends as far as Palazzo Candelpergher, now the town hall. This creates a villagescape in which the built structure itself becomes part of the discovery.
In the Church of San Leonardo, the apse wall features a painting by Gaspare Antonio Baroni Cavalcabò, created in the 1740s, depicting Saint Leonard of Noblac. Castel Noarna, in the Noarna district of Nogaredo, has medieval origins and was later enlarged by the Lodron family. The building has frescoes from the school of Michelangelo on the main staircase and in the winter garden.
The church of Brancolino has Baroque painted decoration from the second half of the 17th century by Pietro Antonio Sorisene. The same church contains a small painting by Gaspare Antonio Baroni Cavalcabò entitled The Ecstasy of Blessed Giuseppe da Copertino; it shows the blessed figure hovering before a cross.
Palazzo Lodron was the residence of the Counts Lodron, one of the most important noble families in Vallagarina. It is located in the center of Nogaredo, just a few minutes’ walk from the town hall. Witch trials took place in the Sala del Giudizio between 1646 and 1717.
Nogaredo is historically known for witch trials against several local peasant women in the 17th and 18th centuries. More than ten years ago, this history was transformed into the Calendimaggio di Nogaredo festival, in which the entire community takes part. The mastio of Castel Noarna contains the main tower, two guard rooms and prisons in which several women from the valley were imprisoned during the Nogaredo witch trials of 1646 and 1647.
Brancolino and local history
The history of Distilleria Marzadro began in 1949 in Brancolino di Nogaredo. Together with the educational trail that starts near Distilleria Marzadro, this local connection links the vineyards and trails with a long-standing local history.
When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore weigh a cultural and historical stay in the historic village against trail experiences among vineyards, along the banks of the Adige and on wooded slopes.
