Stulles offers different ways to experience an impressive mountain landscape: hikes lead to high mountain pastures and scenic viewpoints, waterfalls shape the natural experience, while the Baroque parish church of St Joseph adds a distinctive accent to the village. Hiking trails for mountain days and quieter walks

The tour to the Stuller Hochwart leads from the Stuller Mahder meadows via the Egger-Grub-Alm to the Hochalm. The tour to the Hohe Kreuzspitze also leads via the Egger-Grub-Alm and the Hochalm. The Sonnenweg is part of a 3.5-hour hike between Valtina and Glaiten and runs near Stulles. The Sonnenrundweg can be planned as a shorter route: it starts at the car park by the church and leads over sunny slopes and through secluded forests.

For the colder months, the winter hike from Stulles to the Egger-Grub-Alm is a good option. It follows the broad farm track 14B or forest path 14 and returns to Stulles along the same route. In heavy snowfall, the route should remain on farm track 14B, as forest path 14 is very steep and usually not cleared in winter. The different tour lengths and trail characteristics help you choose active days that suit your plans.

Waterfalls and climbing routes

The Stuller Waterfalls lie below Stulles. Their water plunges down in two cascades, first 112 metres and then a further 230 metres. The waterfalls can be seen from Breiteben, the Timmelsjoch Road and the Passerschluchtweg. The Stuller Waterfall via ferrata is a steep and exposed climbing route of moderate difficulty in the immediate vicinity of the waterfall. There is a very difficult variant in the middle section, which can be bypassed. The final section can be reached from Stulles as a short route via a footpath. For climbing enthusiasts, the Stuls climbing garden complements the offering with 65 climbing routes.

Starting points and travel

The car park by the church in Stulles serves as a starting point for several activities. Stulles can be reached several times a day by public bus from Moos. Bus route 241 runs from Moos towards Stulles and Rabenstein; the stop is listed as “Stuls, Weger”. The starting point for the Stuller Waterfalls can be reached by bus route 240 from Merano to Moos, followed by route 241 from Moos to Stulles. North of Stulles, path no. 10a leads down to the main village of Moso and also serves as a descent route from the Stuller Waterfall via ferrata.

Baroque village culture and cheese from Wegerhof

The parish church of St Joseph in Stulles is Baroque. It is the only church in Hinterpasseier with an onion dome and a shingle roof. Its original bells survived the First World War undamaged because Stulles was difficult to reach due to its remote location. Wegerhof Dairy adds a regional culinary highlight: guided farm tours are offered on request in German or Italian. Cheese is made from silage-free pasture milk according to traditional cheesemaking methods and matures in the farm’s own cellar. The Wegerhof farm shop sells the dairy products produced there during opening hours or by appointment.
