Campolasta lies at an elevation of 1,021 metres, where the Sarntal Valley branches into the Valdurna and Pennes valleys. The two valley directions provide Campolasta with a precise geographical setting. The course of the Rio Valdurna also complements this picture: after approximately 12 kilometres, the river flows into the Talfer at Villa-Campolasta; the confluence lies at 1,010 metres above sea level.

The hike to St. Valentin Chapel begins in Campolasta; historically, the chapel was a pilgrimage destination. An approximately 45-minute walk from Campolasta first follows the footpath and then passes through the Winklerwaldl grove to the well-known Saulegg Brünnl fountain. The two activities offer different options for planning your day.

The Campolasta–Winkler Waldl–Saulegg Brünnl route is one of the excursions suitable for pushchairs. The nearby Mesnerhof is located on the excursion to St. Valentin Chapel; it offers an opportunity to stop for refreshments.

Churches, Buildings and Craftsmanship in the Sarntal Valley

The Church of St. Nicholas in the Villa district dates back to 1367. Haus Schussbrugg is a protected 16th-century building in Campolasta and has been preserved in its original form. The historic smelting works in Campolasta was operated by the Teutonic Order; metal ores from the Sarntal Valley as well as silver ores from Terlan and Nals were processed there.

At the entrance to the Church of St. Erasmus in Astfeld, there is an Eye of God worshipped by angels as a symbol of the Trinity. Erasmus in Campolasta dates from the 18th century, is dedicated to Saint Erasmus and features ceiling frescoes. From Campolasta, a mule track leads to Monteganda/Gentersberg in about half an hour. St. Valentin in Monteganda/Gentersberg is adorned with frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries. From Campolasta, there is also a hike to Lago di San Pancrazio; a mountain-bike tour to a mountain pass is also possible from there.
