Discover Puntarazzi: Festive Culture and Scenic Routes

Puntarazzi has two distinct sides: festivities with local traditions and a road landscape featuring changing terrain. At the Palio delle Contrade event, community celebrations and the six Contrade take center stage. The area is also shaped by a panoramic road connection with several different landscape sections.

Palio delle Contrade in Puntarazzi

At the Palio delle Contrade event in Puntarazzi, a parade of the banners of the six Contrade took place before the games. The Contrade of Ragusa then competed against one another in games in Puntarazzi. The competition therefore followed a festive opening and remained integrated into the Palio framework. The Palio delle Contrade was conceived as a community-building initiative with strong identity-forming value for the participating Contrade. Through a shared celebration and community experience, its competition was intended to strengthen the bonds of Contrade members with their respective Contrada and their sense of belonging. The competition was therefore not focused solely on the game itself, but also on the relationships between the participating Contrade and their members.

Scenic routes between Puntarazzi and Donnafugata

The panoramic road connection runs from Puntarazzi to the junction of the SP 60 and SP 80. From this junction, the SP 80 passes through hills with carob trees and valleys to Castello di Donnafugata. Along this section, wooded hills and valleys alternate before the route ends at Castello di Donnafugata. The section therefore connects different types of terrain with a specific destination. The junction, carob trees, valleys and Castello are important reference points for finding your way along the route.

The SP 60 then runs across the plateau and descends towards Santa Croce. Unlike the SP 80, this route focuses on the plateau and the subsequent descent towards Santa Croce. This difference can serve as a guide when planning the journey, as the SP 80 and SP 60 are each associated with different types of terrain. This allows the road landscape to be considered section by section without confusing the different routes.

Festa Villaggio Puntarazzi and Local Traditions

Another local tradition is the Festa Villaggio Puntarazzi 2025. It was scheduled for Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 7:30 p.m. The event therefore took place on a Sunday evening in 2025, giving the village festival a fixed time frame. The program included music by the duo „Ma-Gia“. The first edition introduced more than 100 participants. The 2025 Puntarazzi village festival was followed by the Sagra del Pane Cunzato.

San Giovanni Maria Vianney in Puntarazzi

In the Contrada Puntarazzi in Ragusa, the parish church of San Giovanni Maria Vianney was to be demolished and subsequently rebuilt because problems with the condition of the building had been identified.
