Casuzze is located in a flat area on the Mediterranean coast and close to a sandy beach that is just over 1 km long. At the same time, Casuzze is one of the locations with free beaches. Casuzze therefore combines a distinct coastal character with cultural points of interest and summer entertainment. In Casuzze, you can therefore organise your holiday days according to different interests: by the water, in the town, at historical sites or at open-air events.
Free beaches and practical beach details
Paid, fully automated and solar-powered public showers have been installed at the free beaches of Casuzze. Bathers can use RFID wristbands or rechargeable magnetic cards for the beach showers. For a day at the beach, the paid use of the showers with an RFID wristband or rechargeable magnetic card can be included as a separate practical item in the day's planning. Spiaggia di Torre di Mezzo is also a beach. Spiaggia di Punta Braccetto, Spiaggia Donnalucata and Spiaggia di Kamarina are further beaches.
Culture and history
The centre of Casuzze is located near a small piazza with the oldest houses in the district. Casa di Montalbano is a museum, while the Parco archeologico di Kaukana is an ancient site. The Museo di Kamarina is a museum, and Kamarina is an ancient site. The settlement of Caucana is one of the few known Late Antique and Byzantine villages from this period. The historical span therefore extends from the ancient sites of Kaukana and Kamarina to the Late Antique and Byzantine settlement of Caucana in the area around Casuzze.
Local life and open-air cinema
The Circolo Nautico Casuzze was founded on 1 August 1978. The Giardino d’Estate cinema and theatre building is located near Piazza Favorita. In addition, the open-air cinema in Casuzze offers screenings only during the summer months. During the summer months, the open-air cinema in Casuzze complements the beach and museums with open-air screenings. The different venues make it easier to switch between a quiet stay by the sea and activities with a cultural focus.
Bus line and municipal shuttle
A local bus line connects Casuzze with Santa Croce and Ragusa. In addition, a municipal shuttle connected Santa Croce Camerina, Punta Secca, Caucana, Casuzze and Koala Maxi on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 31 July until the end of August, with night-time return trips. When choosing your accommodation, the local bus connection to Santa Croce and Ragusa may be a factor if you would like to combine the coast, local life and excursions with different focuses. The beaches, museums, ancient sites and summer open-air cinema provide different reasons for doing so, without requiring every holiday day to be planned in the same way.
