Since 1802, the Basilica of Sant'Agata has been a minor basilica and the mother church of Montemaggiore Belsito. Its floor plan is shaped like a Latin cross; three naves and a large central dome define the church building. The basilica houses a painting by Vincenzo La Barbera from 1628. Hiking trail 503 runs through the forest and reaches Lake Bomes.

The Via Francigena Madonie adds two consecutive stages to the selection: 16.7 kilometers lead from Caccamo to Montemaggiore Belsito, followed by a 22.7-kilometer stage from Montemaggiore Belsito to Caltavuturo. The two different trail lengths help you align your daily planning with the tour you want to take.

Hiking trail 501 leads from Provincial Road 7 between Montemaggiore Belsito and Alia, just outside the town, along a footpath to the Case Granza, where the reserve's visitor center is located.
