An altarpiece in the Ampuriense Museum depicts the Madonna with musical angels. It is attributed to the so-called “Master of Castelsardo” and dates from the late 15th century.

The Roccia dell’Elefante also reaches far back into the past: the rock is of considerable archaeological importance and contains two Domus de Janas tombs from the late Neolithic period, dated to approximately 3200–2800 BC.

Routes and historic paths

Punta La Capra is recommended for windsurfing and sailing; here, the sea and rocks form a natural basin. The Lunissanti ritual in Castelsardo takes place on the Monday after Palm Sunday. During the ritual, the town centre is illuminated by torches at night and filled with the sound of religious choirs.
