Baradili: Medieval Village Character, Water Experiences and Ravioli Tradition

Baradili presents itself as a village with a medieval character and numerous old courtyard houses. In the centre lies Piazza Santa Margherita in front of the church of the same name; sculptures by Pinuccio Sciola adorn the square. The village, square and church give the place a distinct cultural character. The square also bears the name of the church of Santa Margherita.

Church, Square and Nuraxi Candeu

The Chiesa Santa Margherita dates from the 18th century and was completed in 1935. It contains wooden figures of several saints, including Santa Restituta, San Pasquale, San Sebastiano, Santa Margherita “dei sette vestiti”, Sant’Emiliano, San Giuseppe col Bambino, San Francesco Saverio and the Madonna della Candelora with a crown and crowned Child. In the central altar niche stands Santa Margherita with a palm and dragon. A Sant’Antonio da Padova with the Child standing on a book is particularly valuable.

Nuraxi Candeu is considered a nuraghe with a single tower and is within sight of Su Nuraxi di Barumini. Near Nuraxi Candeu there is a nuragic well, carved into the rock and reconstructed in the following centuries. Its water is still used today in the parish church of Santa Margherita.

Water, Play and Exercise

The Ilidarab Water Park has two swimming pools, one of them with water slides. The 850 m² leisure pool includes a beach area, a children’s pool with water games, a hydromassage area with facilities for water fitness and aquagym, as well as a swimming area. The combination of swimming, play and exercise areas offers different ways to spend the day.

The Parco Comunale Baradili includes a playground, a trekking path, a tennis court, a small-sided football field, a refreshment station and a pizzeria; the trekking path provides a different focus from the two ball-game courts, while the refreshment station and pizzeria offer separate places to spend time.

Ravioli and Local Tradition

Baradili combines its local culture with its own culinary tradition. The Sagra dei ravioli has been held every year since 1995, with cultural activities and the promotion of local products. At the Sagra dei ravioli, handmade ravioli are served with fillings of ricotta and lemon, ricotta and spinach, and potato. With its cultural activities and promotion of local products, the festival extends beyond the serving of ravioli.

The ravioli festival Sagra de is cruguxionis takes place on the Sunday that falls between 13 and 20 July.
